Nutritionists have selected 36 men and women and divided them into 3 groups. Group 1 was fed with oatmeal for breakfast, group 2 was given cornflakes, and the participants of the 3rd didn’t eat and just drank water. Scientists have measured the degree of saturation and appetite of people in the hours before lunch. Also, the participants did a blood test for sugar.
The study results are impressive: people who ate oatmeal for breakfast, during lunch, have used 50% fewer calories than the participants in the 2nd group. Those subjects who skipped breakfast, drinking water, at dinner were ready to eat a triple serving of food!
Cornflakes quickly satisfy the hunger, increase the blood glucose levels, but the effect of saturation takes place in a short time. Oatmeal is digested longer and the feeling of satiety after it also lasts longer.
