Do you Hate Mosquitoes? This Simple Trick Will Stop them from Ruining your Spring and Summer – // VIDEO //

With the arrival of good weather, nature outings become more enjoyable, provided they are not ruined by mosquitoes, of course. If they especially like you, hold them at bay with this simple mosquito trick!

The mosquito bite, an obsession!

Before we give you the method to make this homemade mosquito exterminator let us look closer to mosquito bites and how it irritates the skin.

Contrary to popular belief, what mosquitoes inject is not an anesthetic, but simply their saliva. It acts as an anticoagulant that helps to draw blood without clots in their trunks. Once injected, it is this saliva that causes the immune response of the body and pushes the mast cells to release histamine, a substance responsible for redness and swelling of the skin.

An effective homemade mosquito trap

To prepare a homemade mosquito trap, you will need the following:

  • 1 empty plastic bottle
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup warm water
  • ¼ teaspoon yeast

Preparation:

Take the plastic bottle and with a sharp knife, cut the first third of the way down. Then, in the lower part of the bottle, add the brown sugar, warm water and yeast. This mixture is a delicacy that mosquitoes can’t resist. To catch them, take the top off, remove the cap and place it upside down (cap down) inside the part containing the mixture.

You can place this mosquito trap in any area of your home or outside to get rid of the annoying presence of mosquitoes.

Other tips to repel annoying mosquitoes

You will need 2 teaspoons vegetable oil (olive, sunflower or corn) and a few drops of essential oil (lemon, castor oil or eucalyptus). Carefully mix the two oils that you have chosen and keep them in a jar. Apply the mixture directly to your skin while avoiding the eyes, nose and mouth. Reapply every hour.

You may also scare away mosquitoes by putting mint leaves crushed in the rooms where you are or placing fresh basil pots on the edges of windows and alongside the doors. The smell of these two plants displeases mosquitoes and acts as a repellent.

If despite this, a mosquito happens to bite you, here are some simple tips to quickly relieve the itching caused by the bite:

Use lemon

As soon as you start to feel irritation or itching after mosquito bites, avoid scratching the affected area and rub immediately a piece of lemon or apply a few drops of lemon juice. Citric acid will soothe your skin and stop the itching.

Use ice cube

Appling an ice cube on the irritated part is effective for relieving, especially as the cold has an anesthetic effect.

Use the banana skin

Rub the inside of the banana peel directly on the bite to relieve the itching and soothe the irritations.
