Baking soda is famous for its many uses and can be a solution for different problems of our everyday life. Here are some examples:
- Treats your feet
The antibacterial and cleansing properties of soda bicarbonate helps prevent infections, removes dead skin, bad smell and prevents the emergence and proliferation of fungi in the nails. In a basin, mix 8 cups of water with ½ cup of baking soda and lemon juice. Soak your feet for 15 minutes. Otherwise, you can do a 10 minute massage with baking soda paste. You can apply this trick once or twice a week, not more than that, in order not to irritate the skin.
- Removes the glass splinters in the skin
On a clean skin, apply a paste of baking soda. Just mix ¼ teaspoon of this powder with a little water to make a paste that you will apply on the affected area and cover with a bandage. Let it stand for 24 hours and remove it the next day. The mixture will push the skin to swell and bring out the brilliance of the glass. When it will become visible, you can remove it with tweezers and apply an antiseptic cream.
- Relieves bee stings
Bee stings can cause different reactions: local, allergic or toxic reaction. The local reaction is the most common and does not require medical intervention. The bite is usually accompanied by swelling and itching. However, the antibacterial and cleansing properties of baking soda help relieve and clean the bites to avoid infection. Take three tablespoons of this powder that you mix with a few drops of water to make a paste. Then apply it on the affected area, you will immediately feel relief.
- Soothes the sunburns
The paste of baking soda is very effective to relieve sunburn. This powder will create an alkaline environment that will soothe the skin and alleviate redness. Apply a paste of bicarbonate on the area for 10 minutes. Or, add baking soda in warm water, dip cotton pieces in the mixture and apply it on the affected areas.
- Washes the hair
The antibacterial properties of bicarbonate will cleanse the hair of dandruff, excess sebum and accumulated chemicals. Mix a tablespoon of baking soda with 3 tablespoons of water. Put the ingredients in a spray bottle and apply the mixture bottom up. You can apply the mixture on wet or dry hair. Let it stand for about 3 minutes then rinse with warm water. This trick is to be applied one or two times a week, not more.
However, this trick is not suitable for people who use colorations as baking soda effects the color.
- Relieves heartburn
Heartburn is the result of hydrochloric acid that lifts from the stomach into the esophagus. Baking soda acts against this acid and converts it into sodium chloride. Mix ½ teaspoon of baking soda in ½ glass of water. Drink the mixture in small sips every two hours. It is advisable not to exceed this dose for the risk of changing the acid-base metabolism.
