Improve Your Sex Life: 6 Tips for Keeping your Vagina Healthy and Happy!

Do you know how to take care of your vagina? Forget harsh soaps and use natural products! Here’s how to maintain the health of your vagina.

The vaginal flora is subject to many factors that can alter its operation such as pregnancy, menopause, puberty or hormonal disturbances. Taking certain medications can also affect its ecosystem.

The vagina is naturally acidic. It has a pH of 3.5 to 4.5 for the multiplication of protective bacteria that prevent fungal infections and other infections. When you wash this body part several times a day, the pH of your vagina can rise up to 8, and the good bacteria decrease, increasing your risk of infections. Here are some tips for a good personal hygiene.

1. Wear cotton underwear

For a healthy vagina, choose quality and not aesthetics of your underwear; opt for cotton panties and not synthetic favoring itching and infections. It is also advisable not to wear tight pants for a long time. This bad habit promotes sweating because of the friction.

2. Ideally, wash your intimate parts once a day

It is advised to wash your private parts once or twice a day maximum. And do not wash the vagina inside as you destroy the vaginal flora and increase the risk of infection. The vagina contains good bacteria and has the ability to cleanse itself. The areas to be cleaned are the labia, clitoris and vestibule.

3. Clean the anal area

Cleaning of the anal area and buttocks should also be taken into consideration. However, you must first start with the vagina and not the anus; otherwise, the bacteria from the anal area may affect the vaginal flora and cause serious infections. If you use toilet paper, start your cleaning from top down, from front to rear and not the opposite.

4. Do not neglect the perineum

The perineum is the area between the vagina and anus. When this area is neglected, bacteria can accumulate and affect both the anus and vagina. Clean this part once per day.

5. Avoid soaps

There is no recipe. The only ingredient not to be overlooked is water, it is quite sufficient to protect the vaginal flora and not disturb its balance. Indeed, soaps neutralize bacteria and promote itching and infections. It is therefore advised to wash the private parts only with water.

6. Wash the underwear

Besides the choice of underwear made of cotton, it is important to ensure its good cleaning. It is advisable to wash them with soap. Avoid putting them in the washing machine because it does not completely eliminate the bacteria.

More tips…

  • During your period, it is advisable to change the pad every four hours. Moreover, sex is not recommended during this period to avoid infection.
  • During intercourse, always be sure to have clean hands (and your partner too).
  • To prevent germs to enter the urethra, it is advisable to urinate after intercourse.
  • Be gentle and careful with your private part, this area is fragile and any injury or irritation can cause infection.
  • To prevent odors, clean the area around your clitoris with toilet paper after urinating.
