Benefits of the lemon – celeriac drink
The main nutrients in celeriac are vitamins (K, B6, C), minerals (potassium, calcium, copper, iron, manganese, phosphorus) and rare trace elements such as selenium, molybdenum and chromium. Consumed with water, this plant is low in calories.
The caloric imbalance caused by junk food is the main weight gain factor. The consumption of low calorie foods thus compensates this imbalance.
Celeriac is also rich in fiber which improves intestinal transit and helps fight against constipation and bloating.
So a good intestinal drainage reduces the risk of weight gain, as it helps to slow down the filling of pre-adipocytes cells that cause fat accumulation.
Containing over 80% water and a high iron content that promotes vascularisation, celeriac is a potent diuretic that helps remove toxins from the body.
It is shown that poor digestive function contributes to weight gain because it does not promote assimilation of nutrients necessary for the body to eliminate toxins and burn fat.
Thanks to its pectin content (soluble fiber), vitamin C, limonene, quercetin, calcium and antioxidants, lemon juice stimulates the secretion of saliva and gastric juices, thereby promoting digestive function. It allows further regulation of ingestion of sugar by the body, thus ensuring better metabolic control.
According to the dietitian and nutritionist Eugenie Auvinet, regular consumption of lemon in a slimming diet, has a draining effect on bile, helps to detoxify the liver and helps provide the vitamins and minerals needed to revitalize the body.
Because of its high sodium content (60 to 100 mg/100 g) celeriac should be avoided by people who follow a strict low sodium diet (hypertensive, not consuming salt).
It is also unwise to take lemon in case of renal and biliary disorders, stomach burns or ulcers, and in case of allergies to citrus.
It is also recommended not to brush your teeth just after using lemon juice, to avoid damaging the tooth enamel.
If in doubt or if you follow a particular therapy, it is essential to take the advice of your doctor before using this treatment.
