Insidious disease with no predictable outcome, this is what surgeons say about aneurysm. Aneurysm is enlargement on the artery or vein walls because of their thinning or stretching. As a result of this, a balloon forms which exerts pressure on the surrounding tissue.
This disease usually occurs in older people and it leads to atherosclerosis, hypertension, myocardial infarction, later stage of syphilis … In young people the risk of aneurysm is increased after injury.
Signs of vascular aneurysm
A person can live for years not suspecting this time bomb. A damaged vessel may rupture anytime, leading to death… one feels sharp pain and his blood pressure begans to decrease rapidly.
An aneurysm is often discovered by chance during an ultrasound of internal organs. And this diagnosis requires immediate medical intervention.
However, there are some symptoms that should not be overlooked, as it may indicate some form of aneurysm.
Aneurysm of brain artery
This is the most dangerous form of the disease. In the event of a rupture, a person feels a sharp pain and loses consciousness. Persistent headaches like migraine attacks are cause for immediate investigation.
This form represents 85% of all aneurysms. In later stages the patient complains of crushing pain in some part of the body. Aortic aneurysm in the abdomen develops without obvious symptoms. In some cases, patients, by pressing the stomach can feel the pulse, which is stronger than elsewhere.
Aneurysm on the peripheral blood vessels
When there is a damage to blood vessels in the extremities, patients complain of severe pain in the arms and legs.
This type of aneurysm is diagnosed in 5 of 20 patients who had a heart attack. Often it is not accompanied by any symptoms. Sometimes the presence of the disease is exhibited by snoring, feeling of tightness in the chest and back pain, shortness of breath, discomfort in swallowing.
You must understand that any form of aneurysm is not treated with either modern or traditional medicine. The only way is by surgery.
To avoid aneurysm, doctors recommend regular monitoring of the cholesterol and blood sugar level, as well as the blood pressure, to quit smoking, not to participate in strenuous sports like lifting weights and doing regular checkups.
