Eczema is one of the most common skin disorders. Its symptoms can be very annoying especially if they appear on the face. There are many forms of eczema and treatment varies from case to case. Some treatments may do more harm than good.
Sara Mcfall developed eczema as a teenager, but was able to treat it using topical corticosteroids. These steroid creams, also called corticosteroids, are prized for their effectiveness against eczema, but are certainly not without side effects. After several years of use, Sara’s skin became unresponsive to treatment. Therefore she decided to stop the treatment and resorted to a gluten-free diet.
Unfortunately, the consequences of this decision were not immediate. Spots and papules appeared on her face, specifically around the mouth and eyes. This reaction was actually a side effect after prolonged use of topical corticosteroids. Sara had indeed developed perioral dermatitis.
