- Activated carbon
Activated carbon is an edible charcoal, heated and oxidized. When you apply it on your teeth, it helps to remove plaque and stains caused by coffee or cigarette consumption.
Use activated charcoal to clean your teeth once a week because it is slightly abrasive. Apply it on the teeth and use your finger to rub and then rinse.
- Apple cider vinegar
Apple cider vinegar is perfect for oral hygiene. Having antibacterial properties, apple cider vinegar is an effective natural disinfectant to remove and prevent plaque and remove bacteria that cause cavities, bad breath and yellowing of the teeth.
Mix 1 part apple cider vinegar with 2 parts water and use this mixture as a mouthwash once or twice per week.
Turmeric has anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and antimicrobial properties that help to cleanse the mouth. This spice also has astringent effect to tighten the gums and reduce and prevent swelling.
As the activated carbon, turmeric is slightly abrasive; it removes plaque, but should not be used more than once per week.
Mix some turmeric with water, apply the mixture on the teeth and brush them. Leave on for 3 minutes then rinse.
- Coconut oil
One of the best properties of coconut oil is that it is naturally antibacterial oil. This oil with multiple uses proven in natural medicine has also proved fully effective in preventing gingivitis and reducing plaque. Really, coconut oil whitens the teeth by removing the bacteria involved in the formation of dental plaque and yellowing of teeth. Regular use of this oil will contribute to a whiter smile and a healthier mouth.
