Please read this article from Joanne Fanizza, Farmingdale, N.Y., explaining how she quit smoking, and presenting you the recipe:

“I read a newspaper article quoting a doctor who said to give up smoking, mix a tablespoon of baking soda in an 8-ounce glass of water and drink it, two times a day for the first week, then once a day for a second week. I had been smoking a carton a week then, or about 30 cigarettes a day. I drank 2 glasses on Sunday and Monday. It tasted like a flat Alka-Seltzer. On Sunday and Monday, I smoked two cigarettes. On Tuesday I think I smoked one cigarette and then quit entirely. I continued to consume the sodium bicarbonate drink for the rest of that week. I don’t think I even needed it the second week. I have not had a cigarette in twenty years.”

NOTE: By no means baking soda should replace the usage of a healthy alkaline diet. Like every remedy, it shouldn’t be consumed for indefinite period of time, as it may bring more harm than good. Use it for 5 or 6 weeks, and then make a pause for another few weeks before you start again. If you use regularlyhigh amounts of soda it will damage your kidney’s health.
