When a child is sick any parent gets very disturbed, especially if there is fever occurrence. However, if the child is healthy fever shouldn’t worry you as in that way the body is fighting against the infection.
If the fever is not subdued for more than couple of days, you should visit a pediatrician and ask for assistance in finding the fever’s cause.
There are numerous natural remedies that will reduce child’s fever in less than five minutes. Here are some of them:
Use of cold washcloth on forehead – If you want efficiently to reduce fever, put a damp, cold washcloth on the forehead of your child, and do it while it is sleeping.
Prepare a lukewarm bath – Your child should have a lukewarm bath because the water will evaporate through its skin thus cooling the body which will result in lowered temperature. Do not use cold water as it may worsen the temperature and cause shivering.
Dress your child lightly – If your child is overdressed, it will be difficult for the temperature to be lowered, therefore remove all unnecessary layers of clothes, and dress it lightly. If your child shivers, cover it with a blanket until it gets warm again.
Usage of fan – Do not blow your child directly, just use it on a low mode and let the air circulate in the room.
Keep the child hydrated – This will be achieved by drinking plenty fluids and consuming chilled food, thus lowering the temperature from inside out.
Use of grated potatoes – This use will result in fever relief. First, wash, peel and grate the potatoes. Then put them in your child’s sock and wait for the temperature to be lowered.
Use brandy and water – Use a bowl and mix equal amounts of brandy and water. Then, take gauze and soak it in the mixture. Squeeze it so that excess amount of liquid is removed, and then put it in your child’s sock.
Keep your child inside the house in a cool place – If the child needs to be outside, let it stay in a shade.
