Unique for its appearance and flavor, mangosteen is often revered as “the queen” of tropical fruits, particularly in the South-East Asian regions. “Alpha-mangostin could effectively suppress FAS expression and inhibit intracellular FAS activity, and result in decrease of intracellular fatty acid accumulation,” wrote the authors, as published in the journal Molecular Cancer.
