Large pharmaceutical companies are shaken by the fact how cannabis oil can quickly replace the existing prescribed meds.
The Centre for Addictions Research of BC has conducted a new survey explaining why big pharma so much fears introducing cannabis oil in medical treatments.
The two major profitable industries, like pharmaceutical and alcohol industries, have both lobbied against cannabis legalization. These two industries have quite a big influence in Washington, and trying in every way to ban this legalization so that their profits are maintained or even becoming higher than before.
However, people all around the world found about the medical effect of cannabis oil, and there are more willing to substitute the prescribed medications with cannabis oil.
Here what statistics tell about this issue. Namely, a survey of 473 adult therapeutic cannabis users found that 87% of respondents gave up prescribed meds, alcohol, or other drugs in favor of cannabis. Persons under 40 years old were more willing to give up all other drugs for medical cannabis. What is even more amazing is the fact that 80% of respondents reported using cannabis instead of prescription drugs.
Furthermore, 52% stated that they quit alcohol for cannabis, and 32% stated they substituted it for illegal substances. These are positive results that suggest a populartrend of people quitting life threatening substances as well as addictive ones. Instead ofthem they choose this miraculous plant that has never caused an overdose death.
“The finding that cannabis was substituted for all three classes of substances suggests that the medical use of cannabis may play a harm reduction role in the context of use of these substances, and may have implications for abstinence-based substance use treatment approaches. Further research should seek to differentiate between biomedical substitution for prescription pharmaceuticals and psychoactive drug substitution, and to elucidate the mechanisms behind both.”
Previously, The Free Thought Project reported that, the U.S. is in the middle of a painkiller epidemic, with incredibly high number of overdose deaths. However, Big Pharma has firmly secured its position in government and prevailing medicine. Opioid painkillers and heroin havebecome the leading cause of fatal injuries in the U.S. because of so many overdose deaths. Likewise, alcohol is also becoming one of the principle causes for death, namely the Americans are at a so high rate not seen in 35 years. So, the outcome of this survey is just confirming that cannabis is the solution to all these problems.
Americans for Safe Access has an elaborate breakthrough of which medical conditions cannabis can treat as a substitute to prescription pills. Those are:
- Chronic Pain
- Gastrointestinal Disorders
- Multiple Sclerosis
- Movement Disorders
We are in a process of confirming the benefits of cannabis on other body conditions like anxiety normally treated with Xanax, insomnia normally treated with Ambien, and antidepressants treated with Zoloft. Cannabis can substitute all these three frequently prescribed drugs thus avoiding addiction or serious side-effects.
Even though there is still extreme pressure on keeping schedule 1 classification, prohibition slowly starts to crumble as many researches confirm the medical benefit of cannabis. Therefore, the Schedule 1 classification of “no medical benefit”will soon break down.
