DIY Homemade Spiced Turmeric Milk – A Miracle Health Drink

Needed ingredients:

  • Turmeric
  • Black pepper
  • Cardamom
  • Cinnamon
  • Milk (preferably low-fat milk)
  • Virgin coconut oil
  • Honey

How to prepare it: Take a pot and pour the milk in it. Turn the heat, and include ½ teaspoon of turmeric powder, ¼ teaspoon of powdered black pepper, and a small cinnamon stick. Then crush the seeds from a cardamom pod and add them to the solution. Also include ½ teaspoon of virgin coconut oil. When the solution comes to a boiling point, leave it to simmer for few minutes. At the end strain it and sweeten it with honey.

The homemade spiced turmeric milk is ready;now, all you have to do is to consume it in the evening or just before going to sleep.

Useful tips:

  • If you choose to use freshly ground pepper include less than ¼ teaspoon.
  • Instead of cinnamon sticks, you can use ½ teaspoon of cinnamon powder.
  • Ginger can be added to this beverage, ½ or 1 teaspoon of grated ginger.
  • If you are a vegan you can replace the milk with either coconut or almond milk, and sweeten it with stevia or some other natural sweetener.

Turmeric tea paste recipe:

If you don’t have time you can do this recipe and use it throughout the week. Take a saucepan and heat on medium heat ¼ cup of turmeric powder, ½ teaspoon of black pepper powder and ½ cup of water until paste is formed. You can include ¼ teaspoon of this paste in your milk and add cinnamon and cardamom before boiling it. The remaining paste can be cooled and stored in the fridge.
