- Black pepper
- Milk (preferably low-fat milk)
- Virgin coconut oil
How to prepare it: Take a pot and pour the milk in it. Turn the heat, and include ½ teaspoon of turmeric powder, ¼ teaspoon of powdered black pepper, and a small cinnamon stick. Then crush the seeds from a cardamom pod and add them to the solution. Also include ½ teaspoon of virgin coconut oil. When the solution comes to a boiling point, leave it to simmer for few minutes. At the end strain it and sweeten it with honey.
The homemade spiced turmeric milk is ready;now, all you have to do is to consume it in the evening or just before going to sleep.
- If you choose to use freshly ground pepper include less than ¼ teaspoon.
- Instead of cinnamon sticks, you can use ½ teaspoon of cinnamon powder.
- Ginger can be added to this beverage, ½ or 1 teaspoon of grated ginger.
- If you are a vegan you can replace the milk with either coconut or almond milk, and sweeten it with stevia or some other natural sweetener.

If you don’t have time you can do this recipe and use it throughout the week. Take a saucepan and heat on medium heat ¼ cup of turmeric powder, ½ teaspoon of black pepper powder and ½ cup of water until paste is formed. You can include ¼ teaspoon of this paste in your milk and add cinnamon and cardamom before boiling it. The remaining paste can be cooled and stored in the fridge.
