Marijuana is used in all different forms worldwide, however taken in raw form becomes non-psychoactive, and for that reasonis more approachable for most of the people. Eating marijuana can provide you with numerous health benefits; it is even considered a super-food as it contains over 400 chemical compounds consisted of potent vitamins, acids and essential oils.
Dr. William Courtney is a renowned expert which refers to marijuana as “dietary essential”’ because of the fact that it contains extremely high concentrations of cannabinoid acidsknown to be of great essence for cell function.
There are two main cannabinoid acids on which studies have already been performed, and they areTHCa and CBDa. When these two acids are heated like smoking, vaping, or cooking cannabis, they begin to break down into different chemicals like psychoactive THC and cannabinoid CBD.This process is known asdecarboxylation, or “decarbing” in which the acids break down to a form where they become active.
Even though active THC and CBD are potent with health benefits, there is a downside as human body can only manage certain amount of activated cannabinoids. This is what Dr. Courtney says about this issue, quoting:
“We have a series of cannabis strains called ACDC. ‘AC’ stands for alternative cannabinoid, which is the CBD acid molecule, which has come into focus lately as being very important as an anti-inflammatory. And ‘DC’ stands for dietary cannabis. […] If you do heat it, then your dose is around 10mg. And if you don’t heat it, if it’s raw, then your dose is around one to 1-2,000mg.”
However, if it is eaten raw, the human body can process larger amounts of THCa and CBDa, thus converting them into essential nutrients through its metabolism.
Cannabinoid acids have been associated to the prevention of chronic diseases. For instance, endocannabinoid deficiencies are associated to illnesses like: irritable bowel syndrome, migraine, glaucoma, and fibromyalgia.
Moreover, Dr. Courtney advises that large doses of raw CBDa and THCa are very effective in their raw form thus having the following properties: anti-diabetic, anti-inflammatory and anti-ischemic (restricted blood flow).
Furthermore, cannabis is consisted of large quantities of essential amino acids, which is very crucial as human body does not produce them, and therefore we have to include them through our diet. Amino acids are crucial for proper cell function, repairing damaged tissue, taking care of structure and essential for transporting nutrients throughout the body.

In 2003, it was discovered that cannabinoid has outstanding antioxidant and neuroprotective properties which was patented by the US. Government. As known before, antioxidants are highly beneficial in preventing cell damage, which will result in decreasing illnesses and diseases.
