Through the hormones it produces, the thyroid gland influences almost all of the metabolic processes in your body. Thyroid disorders can range from a small, harmless goiter (enlarged gland) that needs no treatment to life-threatening cancer. The most common thyroid problems involve abnormal production of thyroid hormones.
The thyroid is a butterfly-shaped gland that sits low on the front of the neck. Your thyroid lies below your Adam’s apple, along the front of the windpipe. The thyroid has two side lobes, connected by a bridge (isthmus) in the middle. When the thyroid is its normal size, you can’t feel it.

It is popular among women due to its rosy smell and its beneficial effect on menstruation and menopause. The essential oil can also aid in uplifting mood, lessening fatigue and promoting emotional wellness.
Ylangylang (canangaodorata)Ylang-ylang essential oil can be used to cure infections in internal organs such as the stomach, intestines, colon, and urinary tract. It is also good for people suffering from insomnia, fatigue, frigidity and other stress related conditions. It is extremely effective in maintaining moisture and oil balance of the skin and keeps the skin looking hydrated, smooth, and young.
Clove (eugeniacaryophyllata)Clove has historically been used for its antiseptic and analgesic effects. Clove and clove oils are used safely in foods, beverages, and toothpastes. Clove oilcream has been used in the treatment of anal fissures and an extract has exhibited aphrodisiac action in rats; however, there are limited studies supporting clinical applications for clove oil.
Lemongrass (cymbopogonflexuosus)Lemongrass oil’s refreshing scent makes it a valuable aromatherapeutic oil. Its clean and calming aroma helps relieve stress, anxiety, irritability, and insomnia, and prevent drowsiness. Lemongrass oil can also help relax and tone your muscles, as well as relieve muscle pain, rheumatism, period cramps, stomachache, toothache, migraines, and headaches.
Rosemary (rosmarinus officinalis)Preparations of rosemary are taken orally or applied topically for a variety of complaints. The leaves and flowers can also be used to make a tea, said to be good for headaches, colic, colds and nervous diseases as well as depression.
Myrrh (commiphoramyrrha)Myrrh can help maintain healthy skin. It can help soothe chapped or cracked skin. It is commonly added to skin care products to help with moisturizing and also for fragrance. Ancient Egyptians used it to prevent aging and maintain healthy skin.
Basil (ocimumbasilicum) Basil is anti-bacterial in nature thus acts as an insect repellents.
Basil is anti-inflammatory in nature due to the presence of eugenol, limonene and citronellol in the leaf.
Make a roller ball blend and use it daily on the bottom of your feet:
- 20 drops of basil essential oil
- 20 drops lemongrass essential oil
- 20 drops frankincense essential oil
- 20 drops myrrh essential oil
Top of the roller ball with any carrier oil (such coconut oil).
- Topical usage: Dilute the essential oils with a carrier oil in order to prevent sensitivity and avoid evaporation, and apply them straight to the area of the glands or to the matching reflex points on the feet.
- Aromatic usage: Put 5-10 drops of selected oils into an essential oil diffuser.
- Speak with a doctor about the use of essential oils. He might suggest you to use the oils in mix with modern treatment options.
